Dexter is here. Not on this blog yet, but WordPress have finally released version 2.3.
But I’m worried! I actually have three sites running on WordPress 2.2.3 and they are all different:
And don’t get me started on plugin compatibility. I can’t even remember which plugins I use anymore, but they all seem to be vital!
Not only do I worry about the old features and designs of the themes I’m using, I also get to implement new features too! Tags are the exciting newcomer with this release, but I was using Ultimate Tag Warrior before and managed to implement nothing more than meta keywords. What am I going to do with in built technology?
Admittedly, I didn’t start using tags on this blog as I knew 2.3 was coming, but I don’t know if I want to start now. And I’m not a very good tagger! I always feel embarrassed about my tagging on del.icio.us and I don’t even know why.
Maybe I’m worrying over nothing. Perhaps I’m getting neurotic about an upgrade that is only here to help. There are plenty of tips on coping with and upgrading to 2.3 and my host does one click upgrades that even saves a copy of the site on the old version in case anything goes horribly wrong.
I still have a sneaking suspicion that something will go wrong though. Especially since this is the first time I have to upgrade 3 blogs! Does anyone else have this worry? Have you upgraded yet? Had any problems? Or was it smooth sailing?
I’m sure we’ll all get through this just fine (in the end). Just don’t delete any database tables that might be important! Or better still, back it all up.
Good luck!
